Rotary shaft seal

Rotary shaft seals (often known as oil seals) are generally low pressure seals which specially designed to seal a rotating shaft and body to avoid loss of lubricating fluids and prevent the injection of dirt and other foreign particles. Besides o’rings, rotary shaft seals are the most common type of seals which is available on various heavy machinery. Commonly used as bearing seals, they can also be viewed in various applications such as crank shaft seal on engines, propeller shaft seal on boats and output shaft seal on gearboxes . Some seals are made to sealing the OD for some applications with a rotating housing of machine. Some designs can accommodate high pressures; up to 8 bar depending on seal type.

We at XerKin deals in wide range of rotary shaft seals and V-rings in various styles and various Elastomer compounds.

Profiles

Rotary shaft seals are available in many profile, and the most common known as the TC style or XOIB Style. Most of the profiles having a sealing lip energised by a helical spring and all are available with / without a secondary non-spring loaded dust lip. There are some profiles for automotive use such as the bearing seals for trailers featuring Ford or Holden hubs. These profiles are designed for high temperature and pressure applications. Various types for directional, bi-directional and non-directional rotation. There are also some profiles that are completely enclosed with rubber and others with exposed metal on the periphery. There are so many different styles of rotary shaft seals available in the market, we cannot list them all. So if you cannot find the profile you’re after in the table below, give us a call as we can still give assistance.
